Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves” (James 1v22, NLT). Obeying God in the little things ensures He can trust you when He speaks to you about bigger things. What are some of the unexpected results of bold obedience? 1. Bold obedience usually triggers opposition. “The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail” (Acts 5vv17-18, NLT). “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6v12, NLT). 2. Bold obedience often releases miracles. “But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out” (Acts 5v19a, NLT). Expect a miracle! The greatest miracle God has in store for you may be wrapped in your wiliness to do what He says. “Do whatever he tells you” (John 2v5, NLT). 3. Bold obedience always requires faith. “Then he told them, ‘Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!’” (Acts 5vv19b-20, NLT). “My heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’” (Psalm 27v8, NLT). “‘Didn’t we tell you never again to teach in this man’s name?’ he demanded. ‘Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about him, and you want to make us responsible for his death!’ But Peter and the apostles replied, ‘We must obey God rather than any human authority’” (Acts 5vv28-29, NLT).
